How Bjorn Beat Fatigue from Heart Disease with a Zero Gravity Workstation 0b-Flex
I have to sit still and think for a long time. I can no longer do that in a normal posture. When I sit, my energy drains away and it feels like I’m dying. As soon as I lie down, I come back to life.
I asked [the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) in the Netherlands] for something simple, a bedside table. But employment expert Peter Poortvliet immediately saw that more was needed. He listened carefully, thought along with me, and looked beyond my request. That gave me confidence: someone who truly understood what I needed to be able to continue working.
The first time I lay in [the 0b-Flex], I felt clear-headed again for the first time in months. As if my head was working again. As if I was back.
[The 0b-Flex] is my gateway to the world. At some point I might become bedridden, but as long as I have this workplace, I can continue to learn, read, and communicate. That keeps me alive.
Working full-time is no longer possible, but I want to continue using my knowledge. I have never worked solely for the money. I do it because I enjoy making something or learning something. That is where I get my satisfaction from.
I want to show that technology can bring something positive, something that helps people. I’m happy to share that belief.
