ErgoQuest designs and manufactures workstations and chairs. There are three categories of workstations:
- Integrated zero gravity workstations – these come with a chair that’s integrated into the workstation
- Non-integrated zero gravity workstations – these come without a chair; a chair can be purchased separately if needed
- Overbed workstations – these are designed to be used with a bed (not included)
There are two categories of chairs:
- Chairs without monitor or tray attachments
- Chairs with monitor and/or tray attachments

ErgoQuest has a few workstations and chairs in stock at the showroom, but most of our workstations and chairs are made to order. We custom-size all of our chairs, which usually requires 2-3 weeks production time. If one of the workstations or chairs we have on the showroom floor fits you and you want that specific product, you can purchase it immediately.
Yes you can. You can come to our factory located at 2100 Nelson Avenue Grand Rapids Michigan 49507 or to our showroom located at 955 Godfrey Avenue Grand Rapids Michigan 49503. If you let us know where you are located, we can also potentially get you in touch with an ErgoQuest client in your area who may be willing to let you try their workstation or chair.
All hardware is included. If we forgot to include something, we can send it to you via UPS.
Most of our workstations require a floor space of at least 5 x 7 feet and a ceiling height of at least 7 feet. If you have a smaller space than that, we can modify the workstation to accommodate it, or you could try a Zero Gravity Chair with monitor/tray attachments instead.
Ideally you should have at least 45cm distance to the wall.
All the workstations can support up to 350 pounds. Some workstations can support up to 450 pounds, and a few can support over 450 pounds.
The monitors attach via our pan/tilt monitor mounts that have VESA standard (75mm and 100mm) mounting plates.
Apple monitors will work but require a conversion plate.
The workstation does not come with monitors; however, we can provide the monitors as part of the order if you want for an additional fee.
Most of our clients use laptops rather than desktop or tower style computers.
Usually 6, but it varies based on the workstation and size of the monitor.
Typically 55 – 65 inches (65 is the biggest), but it varies according to the workstation.
The mounting system is quite easily configurable via series of clamps and tubes.
We have a single heavy-duty VESA pan/tilt monitor mount that can replace the dual monitor bar and can handle large monitors like the ultra-wide 49″ curved monitor shown below. This mount is $99.95.
We have cord management channels that attach to the back sides of the articulating arms. These channels will hide the power, video, and USB extension cables from the monitors and keyboard tray all the way to the computer. You can see a video about this here.
Yes. We recommend 12 feet for the monitor video cables and power cords.
Normally the workstation is placed close to a wall with an outlet so covering the cords is not necessary. If the cords will be lying across a walkway or circulation area, then they should be covered.
A trackball is not required. Most of our clients use a standard mouse. The top half of the tray is made out of felt material. The felt material acts as a hook and loop fastening system, holding the keyboard and mouse pad in place on the tray.
The seat cushion is a 5″ thick cushion with a 3″ layer of 4 pound density memory foam plus a 2″ layer of poly foam. It simply attaches to the chair base with a pocket at the head and an elastic band at the foot. For more information about the cushion, check out our Workstation Customizations page and this video.
Yes, they easily slide in/out.
Yes, the workstations come with wheels so you can easily move them around. And yes, they lock into place for safety.
You can use the motorized monitor height and tray height and angle adjustments to adjust the workstation or chair to your body.
Most clients use a laptop which typically sits on the left side table by the mast.
The phone is usually placed on the side table; however, it could also be placed on the laptop tray. We could provide a separate arm or tray to support the phone. The drink can be placed on the side table. You can see a video about this here.
The chair cushion can be removed from the chair, and the cushion cover is removable and is machine-washable. There is a large full length zipper on the back of the cushion that allows removal of the foam so the cover can be washed.
Yes, the head pillow can be removed. It hangs in position from a Velcro strap to the back of the chair so it is smooth beneath the pillow. You can see a video about this here.
No special power requirements. 15 amps is sufficient.
We ship our EU orders with a 500 watt step down converter, power strip and type C plug. This sits between your 220/230V electrical outlet and the 110/120V workstation.
The overall workstation does not have any formal CE certification; however, the electrical components have UL/CE approval. This has been sufficient for most of our EU clients.
There is no problem with leaving it plugged in 24-7.
We have a 5 year warranty on all mechanical and electrical components, including motors, power supplies, control boxes, and hand switches. If any of these items wear out, ErgoQuest will ship replacements at its expense to your address. Components are easily replaceable and require no special skills or tools. The warranty applies equally to both new and floor sample units.
The motors are sealed electro-mechanical motors that are working with loads far below their capacities. Failure is very rare. No maintenance is required.
Look at the Body Dimension Form and take measurements for dimensions A, B, C, D, and E.
No need to stress out – the memory foam is quite forgiving. As long as you are within an inch on each of the dimensions you should be fine.
The build time can take between 1-4 weeks depending on what you order. A chair with few or no customizations will likely take around a week. A more complex workstation will likely take around a month.

- Extra large wrap-around tray to accommodate a writing pad, drawing tablet, split keyboard, extra mice etc.

- iPad mounts
- Phone mounts
There is a controls option that gives memory position options for all the chair positions and mast height. In/out positions for the monitor and keyboard tray would still have to be manual. This controls option is a $2000 upgrade. Most of our clients do not need this. They usually have one or two favorite positions and do the minimal chair position changes to get in and out and simply raise and lower the main mast.
Since the tray is designed to have its front edge rest on the armrests, the weight limit is quite high.
The most common way is to mount it on a separate articulating arm with pan/tilt head off the main mast.
Most people go with a sound bar instead of separate individual speakers. We have used this one with good results in the past.

The laptop tray is an adjustable arm with a tilting tray that can be positioned to the left of the wrap-around keyboard tray. It mounts to the motorized height mast so it moves up and down with the monitors and keyboard tray.
You will need to tighten the pivot connection with a 6mm Allen wrench.
SHIPPING, DELIVERY, AND ASSEMBLY FAQS
Yes, we use UPS Air Freight to ship our products internationally. UPS facilitates the customs processing. We have shipped product to clients in Canada, UK, France, Mexico, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Belarus, Russia, Saipan, and more — 40+ countries in all, which are highlighted in green in the map below.
ErgoQuest Zero-Gravity Workstations and Chairs are shipped in separate pieces on 40″ x 48″ shipping pallets. For domestic deliveries, we partner with various freight carriers to ensure your pallet arrives at your specified address. If the delivery location is a residence or office without a loading dock, the carrier will use a liftgate to facilitate unloading.
We can add insurance to the shipping quote, however, generally do not have issues with damage due to our careful packing and do not think the insurance is worth the cost. If there is damage we will replace any damaged parts at our expense.
You will not be paying directly for the shipping. We prepay the shipment so you will be reimbursing us as part of our invoice.
The freight carrier will deliver to your driveway. They may be able to wheel it into the garage using a pallet jack.
If you purchase our Installation and Setup Service, the installer will open the pallet, unwrap the parts, carry them into the building, and complete the assembly.
The workstation is shipped in pieces on a pallet. The individual pieces will fit through any door.
The workstation is in pieces; no one part is more than 60 pounds. The parts can easily be taken up in a typical office elevator.
Assembly is not included, but is not difficult. If you are somewhat handy with tools, you should not have a problem. We will send you a user manual for setup instructions and be available via email, phone, and video to help.
The chairs ship already assembled. If you order a chair with a laptop arm and/or tray, then you will just have to attach those.
You can move the pieces yourself with the help of a couple of friends, or hire a service like

The bolts should be loose enough to allow for easy pivot movement.
We can arrange for an assembler to come to your address, unpack the pieces, and set up the workstation in your room of choice. This service is called our Installation and Setup Service ($550). The installer typically arrives the day after delivery.
We use Thumbtack, BAK Service, AR Services, etc.
Yes, they will carry the parts upstairs, and they will also haul away the shipping pallet and debris after the installation.
It usually takes about 3 hours.
We use the following freight carriers: ABF, Dayton Freight, Estes, Forward Air, R&L Carriers, TForce Freight, XPO Logistics, and UPS. We pick the freight carrier that will ship in the fastest amount of time for the least amount of money.
No. We will provide an estimate for these taxes, but the actual amount and collection will be determined by UPS Brokerage as part of their International air freight delivery service.
PAYMENT FAQS
Yes, all of the prices are in USD.
Building a custom workstation is very labor intensive. We completely fabricate our own parts, which must be welded and then powder-coated. We sew our own chair cushions. Compared to our (very few) competitors, we offer more options, more customization, and higher quality products for an equivalent amount of money — or even less.
We do not typically offer discounts, but please let us know of your situation. Occasionally we may have a seasonal sale.
We currently accept credit cards, debit cards, direct bank transfers, checks, PayPal, and Affirm. Affirm is an installment payment plan that lets clients split their purchases into monthly payments, often with transparent, fixed interest rates.
Affirm rates range from 0–36% APR. Payment options are subject to an eligibility check and are provided by these lending partners: affirm.com/lenders. Options depend on your purchase amount, and a down payment may be required.
California residents: Loans by Affirm Loan Services, LLC are made or arranged pursuant to a California Financing Law license. For licenses and disclosures, see affirm.com/licenses.
For example, an $800 purchase could be split into 12 monthly payments of $72.21 at 15% APR.

We require a 25% deposit on order and the remainder on completion prior to delivery, but most of our customers pay the full amount when they order.
Yes, you can order if you are tax exempt. We only collect sales tax from private parties within the State of Michigan. If you are located outside of the State of Michigan, you don’t have to pay sales tax. If you’re international, you have to pay tax to your government.

We use BorderBuddy for brokerage services. Borderbuddy will set you up with an account and invoice you for any customs fees and taxes due.
If you import the workstation as an individual for personal use v.s. if you import the workstation as a business for business use, the taxes are different.
We do not currently have one, but we are in the process of renewing our SAM Cage Code 996S1 under QuestErgo, Inc.
REPAIRS AND RETURNS FAQS
We offer a 30 day trial period. Since the chair is customized, we require a 10% restock fee and you would be responsible for the shipping costs both ways. For more information, see our Fulfillment Policy.
We are not interested in buying our workstations back; it just does not make sense financially. We would have to hire someone to pack it up on a shipping pallet and then hire a freight company to pick it up with a special liftgate truck. After receiving it, we would have to strip it down and rebuild it if it happens to be an older model.
I get calls occasionally from people asking for setup instructions who have purchased our products secondhand, so I know there is a secondhand market. If you have an ErgoQuest workstation you no longer need, I would try listing it on Ebay or Facebook Marketplace where you could sell it to someone local who could pick it up at your office and pay you cash.
ErgoQuest will pay to have the workstation shipped back to our production facility. After we have received it back we can offer two options:
Option 1: refund
Option 2: Replace the workstation with a customized, reduced size version that will work in the space you have available.
Give us the dimensions of the new space you have available.
You can first sell the workstation to a third party for as much as you can get. If you are not successful, you can go with option 1 or 2 as a backup.
No, not standardized. We can provide a tech, but one is usually not required since replacing the electrical components is quite easy and non-technical.
Yes, we will fabricate it and ship it to you.
The control box may not be damaged; it may just need to be reset.
Try this:
- Hook the box back up to the backrest motor and plug it into a wall socket.
- Press and hold the down button until the column is fully retracted, then continue holding it for another 10 seconds.
- Press the up button.
Just unplug the control box for a few minutes and the blinking light will reset.
Repairs are very rare. We work with local contractors to do the work when required.
